ASHLEY + STEVEN :: BAKERSFIELD COUNTRY CLUB

Striking a balance that's both on-trend and classic is a challenge for any designer! It's so tempting to get caught up in new and exciting ideas, especially when it comes to creating a design for discerning brides who want to do something that hasn't been seen a million times. But trends come and go quickly and when too many of those come together in one event, you can look back and say "that wedding was SO ____ (insert year here)" And we all know using a year as an adjective to describe a style is never a good thing... just ask the mom who opted for that over-stated pearl drop head piece and a dress with massive puffy sleeves ;)

Ashley's vision managed to juxtapose current trends with lasting style. In my opinion, it came down to one key element that transcended both--BLUE! If you haven't gotten the memo, blue is huge right now. It's moody and romantic when it's a slate tone, perfectly preppy & timeless in navy and just the right amount of  global when it takes on an indigo shade.

Ashley opted for a sky and slate combo that was both modern romance and classic fairytale. Throw in the most Cinderella-worthy dress, a majestic church setting, bridesmaids dressed mixed and matched to perfection, and whimsical greenery details that brought the garden indoors, and it's pretty safe to say Ashley and Steven won't be feeling any design remorse in the next few decades.
